Robert Kelsh, Chair of the ESPCR 2010 Meeting

The XVIth ESPCR Meeting (ESPCR 2010) is over. Robert Kelsh (Chair), Dot Bennett and Colin Goding must be praised for ensembling a terrific meeting, full of most interesting talks and lively discussions, at the facilities of the Wellcome-Trust Conference Centre in Hinxton-Cambridge, UK. Up to 180 delegates gathered this time, mostly from Europe, but also from USA, Australia, Japan and Korea.

Next year it will be the turn of the International Pigment Cell Conference (IPCC), (IPCC 2011), that will be organized by Alain Taïeb, in Bordeaux (France), September 21-24, 2011. Put a mark in your agenda for this forthcoming meeting. We hope to seeing you all again in Bordeaux!.

Professor Estela Medrano at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, died prematurely in a tragic car accident on Monday August 30th, 2010. It is a real loss for the community and for all her friends, which were numerous in our field. Our heart felt sorrows go out to her husband and family, but no verbal or written condolences can possibly do justice to the depth and sincerity of our feelings of sympathy.

A new ESPCR bulletin (nº 66, April 2010) has been published and it is now available from the members-only area of the ESPCR web site. All past bulletins, with the exception of those corresponding from the last three years, are also available from the BULLETIN ESPCR web page.

7th Melanoma Meeting, Nice, France, June 16-18, 2010

The 7th Melanoma Meeting, entitled “Emerging Concepts in Melanoma Biology. Pave the Road to New Therapies” will be held in Nice, France, on June 16-18, 2010.

This meeting is organized by Corine BERTOLOTTO, INSERM U895, Nice; Véronique DELMAS, Institut Curie, Orsay; Robert BALLOTTI, INSERM U895, Nice; Lionel LARUE, Institut Curie, Orsay; Jean-Paul ORTONNE, CHU, Nice; Alain SARASIN, IGR, Villejuif and the meeting pre-program includes, in addition, as invited speakers: Colin GODING, Friedrich BEERMANN, Alain MUAVIEL, Dot BENNETT, Marisol SOENGAS, Daniel PEEPER, Bernard WEHRLE-HALLER, Nathalie LABARRIERE, Richard MARAIS, Caroline ROBERT, Owen SANSOM, Luisa LANFRANCONE, Irwin DAVIDSON, Eirikur STEIMGRIMSSON, Eric GILSON, Marie-Dominique GALIBERT and Keith HOEK.

Remembering those former ESPCR Members that have left us...

From now on, there will be a section, at the ESPCR web site, devoted to remembering those former ESPCR Members that have left us. This is a deserved recognition for those colleagues that once belonged to and worked for our Society. We just hope we will not have to update this page too often.

First ESPCR Bulletin published (nº 1) March 1987

The ESPCR is born!. These were the very first words found in the first ESPCR bulletin, published in March 1987. The ESPCR Bulletin Editor was, at the time, Prof. F. Lejeune (Brussels). Since then, 66 issues have been published, 65 normal issues and 1 special issue, published in June 1993. All these issues are now available from the ESPCR web site. Only the issues corresponding to the last three years have restricted access to members, protected by username/password. These parameters can be requested by ESPCR members very easily, from the ESPCR web site too.

Now, thanks to a tremendous effort made by Ghanem Ghanem, current ESPCR Editor, who took the initiative to transform all previous files in scanned PDF documents, we could all enjoy all these ESPCR bulletins, electronically, easily, directly downloading them from the ESPCR web site, at the Bulletin Section.
