Meeting and Course "From Melanocyte Development to Melanoma Therapies", Reykjavik - Iceland, June 21-26, 2015

The European Society for Pigment Cell Research (ESPCR) is pleased to co-sponsor the following two consecutive events on melanocyte and melanoma research that will take place in Iceland next June.

At first, the course From Melanocyte Development to Melanoma Therapies – Basic Science and Clinical Applications, which will be held at the University of Iceland, in Reykjavik, Iceland, June 21-24, 2015. Major advances in basic research of melanoma have lead to novel treatment options that are making a difference for melanoma patients. However, multiple challenges lie ahead and further progress is necessary, particularly with respect to resistance to the novel therapies. This course will teach the basic biology and development of http://dhuhealthcare.com/tadalafil-cialis-ed/ the melanocyte how these cells are transformed into melanoma, and how the disease is diagnosed and treated. A particular emphasis will be on novel therapeutic options and the resistance that arises against the new drugs. This course is organized by: Lionel LARUE – Institut Curie, FR; Eirikur STEINGRIMSSON – University of Iceland, IC; Thorunn RAFNAR – deCODE Genetics, IC; and, Colin GODING – Ludwig Institute, UK

Next, the Conference Melanoma: from basic science to clinical applications, will be held in Harpa, the Concert Hall and Conference Center in Reykjavik, Iceland, June 24-26, 2015. The conference will involve lectures from leaders in melanoma and melanocyte research. Speakers and poster presentations will be selected from abstracts. The conference is designed to stimulate discussions between basic scientists and clinicians and has the ultimate aim of improving therapeutic options in this disease. This meeting is organize by Eirikur Steingrimsson, Lionel Larue, Ze’ev Ronai, Thorunn Rafnar, Caroline Robert, Karl Lewis and René Gonzalez.

The 17th ESPCR meeting web site has been launched and registration is OPEN to attend the 2012 ESPCR meeting, which will be held in Geneva (Switzerland), on September 11-13, 2012. This meeting will be taking Place from Tuesday 11th September to Thursday 13th September 2012, at the: Centre Médical Universitaire, University of Geneva, in Geneva, Switzerland, organized by Dr. Bernhard Wehrle-Haller.

The theme for the 2012 ESPCR meeting is: The Melanocyte and its Environment

Meeting theme: Pigment cells come in different flavors and are located in diverse organs and places. Characterized by the production of melanin, one of the functions of melanocytes is to protect organisms from the https://simplyteeth.com/avana-avanafil/ harmful irradiation of the sun. As for melanocytes in the skin, which reside in the basal layer of the epidermis or within hair follicles, pigmented cells are always in contact with components of the extracellular matrix and with neighboring cells, such as keratinocytes. To survive and to thrive within their environmental niches, melanocytes are stimulated and instructed by paracrine signals providing tight cross-talk. Even in the case of pathological transformation of melanocytes into nevi and melanoma, these cells are still embedded within and interact with their microenvironment in specific ways.

During this upcoming 2012 ESPCR meeting, we do not only want to discuss critical signaling, morphogenetic and pathological mechanisms within melanocyte, but would also like to understand how the environment influences and modulates the behavior of melanocytes or melanoma cells.

ESPCR 2009 meeting

ESPCR 2009 meeting

Dear colleagues, Dear friends,

Upon request from several members of our society, I am happy to inform you that the abstract deadline for the 15th Meeting of the ESPCR, to be held in Münster, Germany, September 20-23, 2009, will be extended to June 10th, 2009.

Until now we have received a very promising number of abstracts indicating that our ESPCR 2009 Meeting will become http://www.iveamobility.com/soma500mg/ a stimulating and successful international meeting. By slightly extending the deadline, I hope that this will create more relaxation to all of us for preparation of an abstract. Please note that there
will be also an extra slot for “fresh from the bench abstracts”. These abstracts – although printed the ESPCR 2009 Meeting booklet – however, will be posters only, and they will not be printed in the October 2009 issue of PCMR.

I look forward for your special contribution to the ESPCR 2009 Meeting and to welcome in Münster, Germany, in September 2009!

Best wishes,
Markus Bohm, MD
